"Soft targets" in and around traffic:

From that I looked at The Mosquito:
Wikipedia:
High frequency sound made to solve lotering. It's know for two frequency settings, one of approximately 17.4 kHz [1] that can generally be heard only by people under the age of 25, and another at 8 kHz that can be heard by most people. The maximum potential output sound pressure level is stated by the manufacturer to be 108 decibels (dB).[2] The sound can typically only be heard by people below 25 years of age, as the ability to hear high frequencies deteriorates in humans with age (a phenomenon known as presbycusis)...
The Mosquito was invented by Howard Stapleton in 2005, and was originally tested in Barry, South Wales, where it was successful in reducing teenagers loitering near a grocery store.[6] The idea was born after he was irritated by a factory noise when he was a child.[7] The drive to actually create the product from the idea was from when Mr. Stapleton's daughter, at the time 17, was sent to the store to retrieve milk and was harassed by a small group of 12 to 15-year-olds. Using his 2 children as test subjects, he finally came to the frequency of "The Mosquito." [8]
